FAQs

Do you accept insurance?

I am a therapist in the Alma network and accept insurance from Aetna, Cigna, and Optum.

If you’re not covered by these insurances and wish to pay out of pocket, some PPO insurance plans do have Out of Network benefits, and if you’d like to use those, I can provide you with a superbill (a detailed receipt of services rendered) to submit for potential reimbursement. Please contact your insurance company to figure out your specific plan’s benefits.

Just a note - Insurance companies are particular about what they will reimburse and reimbursement is not guaranteed. They may also require access to your confidential mental health information, such as your diagnosis and treatment plan, which will become a part of your permanent health record. Often, insurance companies will only cover services that are considered “medical necessity”, which may be limited.

How do I prepare for my first therapy session?

Once your session day/time is established, you will be emailed a link for a video meeting. Be sure that you have a good internet connection, a private place to meet, and headphones for further privacy, if needed.

Otherwise, be comfortable and ready to share.

How can therapy help?

Therapy can be highly beneficial by providing you with personalized, unconditional support and understanding. Not only will you be validated in your struggles, but you’ll also be educated in what you’re going through, and equipped with skills that will help you break unhealthy behavior and relational patterns in your life. Therapy can help you gain insight into your experiences, emotions, and desires and also help you to feel empowered to do what makes you feel happy and healthy without having to apologize to anyone. Therapy is more than a friend just listening and telling you, “Everything’s gonna be okay,” it’s real active work that will help you take hold of your life and see the positive change that you desire and deserve.

How long do I need to be in therapy?

Depending on your reasons for seeking therapy, it can be short-term to target a specific or life phase issue, or long-term to deal with more complicated patterns in your life, or for deep personal growth and development.

It’s important to note that your active participation and implementation of skills/strategies discussed in sessions is imperative in seeing results and moving you along in treatment. This is also a huge factor in determining if your treatment will be short or long term.
